G&G came out to spend a week with us over New Year's. We spent the first few days in Estes hanging out in a timeshare with G&G while M worked. We did crafts and swam in the outdoor hot tub.
We took G&G into RMNP to do a short hike and look at some flood damage.
The alluvial fan area was formed by a dam breaking in early 1980's, but the September flood again changed the course of the river.
Even our new princesses wanted to go for a swim.
After a few days in Estes, we all headed over to SMR where Uncle W is working. Since most of the cabins were full, M got us two nights in the Yurt. No heat, but electricity so we brought our own space heater and lots of blankets and warm clothes.
While G and Uncle W skied the day at Winter Park, G and us girls went for a snowhoe hike.
A hot cup of chocolate afterwards was very nice.
Hanging out in the Yurt and having a little bit of lunch, while we geared up for meeting the skiers at Granby Ranch for night skiing.
It took a little longer than planned, as we slid off the icy road in our van and got stuck in the ditch leaving the Yurt Village. But we finally met up with the skiers and I got to show G all the stuff I've learned to do this year.
All warm and snuggly in our bed for the night. When we got done skiing the temperature was 7 degrees. I'm sure overnight it easily got below zero. Even though we were warm inside our covers (actually C got too hot and had to take a layer off), the cup of ice next to the canvas side didn't fare as well overnight.
A thin layer of ice formed!
Snowshoeing from the bathhouse back to our yurt. A real adventure!!
Packing up and getting ready to go home to a heated house.
Warming hands up with the hair dryer in the bathhouse!
After checking out, we hung out near the fireplace playing games in the Administration building while we waited to meet Uncle W for his lunch break.
