Helicopter landing

One evening as M was leaving work, she noticed lots of activity on the baseball field.  She knew it meant a flight for life helicopter was coming in.  So she came to pick us up and we went to park, so we could watch the helicopter land.
See how close we are to the landing!

M found out the next day that the passenger was a coworker who was having a heart attack.  He was flown to the hospital and after a few days was able to go home.

Bear Sightings

The first bear M ever saw in the canyon was last year on a Sunday afternoon a month before the flood.  This summer we saw 4 bears on our commutes!!  M thinks because a lot of the houses are still vacant, the bears are free to roam a little more.
The first bear was enjoying a fish supper across the river!

The second and third bears we saw the same night, within a half mile of each other.  The second bear had found a vacant cabin and had raided it.  You can see the chip bags next to him on the stump.

The third bear was just up the road rummaging for some berries on the bushes.  As C made note that night. One bear wasn't going to be wild much longer, but the other bear was a "good" bear!!

We didn't get a picture of the fourth bear, but we saw it first week of school in the morning hiking up from the river from what I imagine was a breakfast of fish.  Another good bear as C would say!  Since it was close to where we saw the first bear, it very easily could have been the same bear.  Especially with fish being the meal, I'm sure it was the same bear who is a very good fishing bear!

Fourth of July

View of our mountains over our Fourth of July camping trip.

This summer there has been lots of mud everywhere.  L and M got stuck in one of the bogs.

At our campsite over the Fourth, C and I found a fort.
We had some good times playing in the fort.
One afternoon we headed down to Lake Owen, where there is an old train caboose.
We also dipped our toes in the water.

It takes four guys to carry one of the generators off the trailer.
Sitting around the campfire getting my hair done.

The rides were long and dusty, but oh so much fun!

We found lots of scenic spots on our rides.

Cuddling with P by the fire.

Then M gets a turn to cuddle with me!

Enjoying the view during a ride.

Helping D load the bikes.

WAY

Over the Fourth of July, the Y where M works hosted the World Council of Y's.  Over 80 countries were represented.
The water globe on Y grounds.
All the flags hanging from the Administration Building.

Church picnic

In June, we had a church picnic at a local park.  It was a very hot day, so after eating we sat in the shade for bit.  We also cooled off with a short water fight.

Day Camp Fun

This summer at Day Camp, I was part of theater camp for a week.  We put a show on for the parents at the Y Library.  The first play I was the ambulance driver.
Then we put on a puppet show.

I had lots of fun at Day camp this summer.  In addition to Theater Camp, I also went to Sports, Climbing, Princess/Fairies/Dragons, Nature and Engineering Camp.

Fun with family

Uncle S and Aunt S visited us in late June.  C and I had lots of fun being the big cousins to L&L.
The girls!!!
Reading to L2.
The twins hanging out on the floor.
For a few minutes the whole Leivestad clan was together.
The 12 cousins!
Taking turns playing with the Ipad.
Both C and L2 are in awe watching the family antics!!
C was such a big helper feeding L2.
We took them for a walk around P's neighborhood.
P with his second set of twins!!
We even got some wrestling in with L.  Just showing him how out numbered he is going to be in a few years once his sisters really start moving!!
P giving candy away!
I had a chance to help with feeding L1 her bottle.
M even had a chance to snuggle with the twins!
